Say "Hey, Everyone!"
Step one begins with shouting out to people letting them know your art is for sale. Before the internet you probably would hold an showing of your art or crafts. To get people to come, you would talk to your friends, send postcards to invite people, hang up posters, may be even take out an ad in the local newspaper. Well online it is pretty much the same thing. There are many ways to say "Hey!".

The ones we will introduce in this course are:
-Community Membership
-Search Engine Optimization
-Paid Ads
-Affiliates
-Social Media
But before that some basics:
Traffic - The more the better
You measure the success of your art show by the number of Guests that attend and number of works sold. This is similar in the internet, only they use different words. The number of guests that visit a webpage is called traffic. There are lots products advertising about increased traffic because the greater the number of people that see your page then the greater number of sales...or at least that is the theory. So traffic is the number of people visiting your page.
We'll come back to this topic, once we have visited all of the other steps in the map. Why? Because you will build the webpages that your vistors will see to sign up for your mailing list and be introduced to your work.
So let's sail on to the Isle of OptIns and learn how to navigate them.
